This website is operated by The Name Mnemonic Research Institute for the purpose of raising awareness about prosopagnosia (face blindness).

This website may collect names, nicknames, contact details, and consultation content that users voluntarily provide through our official social media accounts or other means of contact.

In addition, technical information such as browser, device, referrer, and IP address may be recorded by our servers or external services in order to display the site and operate it securely.

For the self-check, we store anonymous statistical data based on the user’s consent. For details, please see “3. Handling of Self-Check Responses”.

Self-check answers and results are not intended for diagnostic purposes.

Only where the user has given consent before starting the self-check, we store the following information as anonymous statistical data: the answers to the 20 items, the calculated score and result band, the age, gender, and native language provided before answering, the time taken to complete the questions, and the language used (ja / en / es / zh).

We do not collect information that can identify an individual, such as name, email address, telephone number, or account details. No account registration is required to use the self-check.

The stored data is used to understand the reality of prosopagnosia, to conduct research, and to improve the content of this website.

We may publish the results of aggregating and analyzing the stored data. Publication may take the form of articles and reports on this website and posts on our official social media accounts, as well as conference presentations, academic papers, use for research purposes, and provision to third parties such as media organizations and researchers.

In addition to aggregate figures and analysis results, publication may take the form of releasing anonymous individual responses as a dataset. In no case will information that can identify an individual be included.

Because self-check data is stored in a form that is not linked to any individual user, we cannot identify a particular response after submission in order to delete or correct it. If you do not wish your data to be stored or published, please do not consent and do not submit the self-check.

Information we collect is used to respond to inquiries, improve the content of this website, address fraudulent use or safety issues, and provide necessary communications.

We will not use personal information beyond the above purposes without the consent of the user concerned.

This website may use services provided by third parties, such as font delivery, links to social media, and links to external sites.

Information collected through external services is handled in accordance with each service provider’s own privacy policy and terms of use.

We will not provide personal information to third parties without the consent of the user concerned, except where required by law.

If a user requests disclosure, correction, suspension of use, deletion, or similar action regarding their personal information we hold, we will respond within a reasonable scope after verifying their identity.

However, self-check response data is stored in a form that cannot identify an individual, and we cannot determine whose response is whose. For that reason, we cannot respond to requests for disclosure, correction, or deletion of individual self-check responses.
